GhostZ inspired me to take a look at Honda's page. While trying to find information (near impossible) I stumbled upon the compare feature. It automatically compared the Si with the ST and GTI. They put a check mark (meaning Honda has the advantage) on everything for Honda.

Destination charge the same as everyone? Yup, Honda advantage.

Biggest engine must mean it's better, right?

Least amount of horsepower? Yup, biggest engine combined with least horsepower means Honda wins.

Least amount of torque? Yup, that too.

Larger turning radius? That's better,right?

Can someone share this with a Jalopnik writer so they can call Honda to see why they falsely advertise?

I wonder if the 'Honda advantage' for horsepower is redline RPM.

We have less power all the way around. That's an advantage, right guys?

Good one, Honda. Now that's what I call advertising!

Holy shit, these torque numbers totally slaughter the Honda. Like, complete and total ownage here. Damn...

It's literally one of the worst websites I've seen an auto-manufacturer have since 2013.

Honda, right now, is like 1982 GM.

I'm pretty sure the Focus ST's steering is variable....

also people don't want variable steering

NO THE CHECK IS FOR THE HIGH RPM STUPID . HIGHER RPM IS BETTER

But bro, the Honda engine has 2354 of...something. That's definitely more than 1999 and 1984! Clearly Honda has the advantage. The numbers don't lie!

I looked at a few other things. They have the Mazda3 (my car) at 4 stars from NHTSA when it's 5. They put a "*" next to it and if you go to the bottom of the barely visible tiny letters it says to check NHTSA or manufacturers for accuracy.

DUDE THERE ARE CHECKMARKS, YOU CAN'T ARGUE CHECKMARKS

True. Though without the zillions of badge engineered copies flooding the market and cannibalizing sales, it is unlikely that they will learn as harsh a lesson as 80s GM eventually did.

I've also noticed they compare different things depending on the trim you pick so it'll look better. When I compared it to my mazda they added in the CD player so they could put a check next to it and say not available for mine. I took out the mazda and the CD player comparison went away.

Just got to work this morning and there was some dude sitting in his brand new Civic Si and I was like oh sweet Si...then I remembered when I owned one(07) and how vastly superior the GTI and ST twins are and I felt bad he wasted his money on it.

I try not to judge people on their car purchases so I'll give him a couple of plus points: likely much more reliable, cheaper, and at least compared to the wrx much more subtle styling if that's his thing. Personally I'd take the Subaru, head gaskets and transmission issues and all.

Head gaskets havent been much of a problem since 2009 at least thats what they say and I haven't seen as many cases after 09 either. Transmissions should be ok as well since they have moved to 6spd manuals not the old glass 5spd.
